I posted this quote on Thrifty Nickel’s  Facebook page earlier because it really spoke to me. As humans we can’t keep doing things the same old way if we ever want to achieve innovation. Humans and companies need to be constantly evolving in order to keep up with the everyone else. I think Thrifty Nickel has done very well in this regard over the past two years. We’ve rebuilt our website from the ground up to make online ads easier to place than ever! We’ve also grown our Facebook page and have obtained over 6,000 likes since the time I started. Yesterday was Mother’s Day across the United States. We wished everyone a happy holiday on our Facebook page and hopefully all the mommas out there had a wonderful and relaxing time. How Many Months Till Training Camp?

Good morning and Happy Friday to all of our awesome readers across the Permian Basin. Without all of you the world would be filled with one less blog and I would be mumbling all these thoughts to myself! So without further ado here are my musings for this Friday.

The NFL draft kicked off with the Houston Texans picking Jadeveon Clowney with the number one pick. Blake Bortles was the first quarterback taken off the board at number three to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags surprised a lot of “experts” by taking Blake so high but I’m rooting for the UCF grad to turn that franchise around. Texas A&M star Johnny Football fell all the way to #22 where the Cleveland Browns picked him up. Not sure if Manziel will find the exciting night life he’s accustomed to in Northeast Ohio, but hopefully he can tone down his wild lifestyle and mature into a successful NFL quarterback. Round two of the draft starts tonight on ESPN at 7pm EST.

New Issues Are On Stands Now!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is almost here! The NFL returns to television tonight as they broadcast the 2014 draft live fromRefereeFootballHC1301-1 copy New York. The Houston Texans own the number one overall pick and everyone is excited to see exactly who they draft. It might be the monster defensive end Jadeveon Clowney or even quarterback sensation Johnny Manziel. After a disappointing 8-8 season last year the Dallas Cowboys hold the 17th pick in the draft and need a lot of help at safety. Tune in live at 7pm on ESPN to see how all of the action unfolds!

People here in the Permian Basin really love football and I do too! Unfortunately we have to wait all summer before we even see some games being played. I know it’s a bummer because we all hate to wait, but that’s just the way it goes. Thankfully there are some things left in our world that never take a break, like the Permian Basin’s favorite free classifieds paper!
