I can’t believe that Friday is finally here! Juggling moving with work all week is no easy task, but the weekend is almost here to save me. If you’re looking for something to do this weekend then why not check out the Silver Spur Gun and Blade show? It’s being held at the Midland Horseshoe Saturday and Sunday. The NCAA Men’s Final Four is tomorrow evening to determine which two teams will play for the National Championship. The first game tipping off in Arlington is the Connecticut Huskies vs the Florida Gators. Even though UConn already beat Florida back in December, I still like the Gators to pull off a three point win in this one 62-59. The other game Saturday is Kentucky vs Wisconsin. There are plenty of people that would love to see an all SEC title game but I’m not one of them. I think the Badgers knock off Kentucky and end their great run one game short 71-62.

What qualifies as effective marketing to you? For some, a simple yet catchy slogan is all it takes to get the job done. Others prefer loud obnoxious ads that will stick in people’s minds whether they want them to or not! My favorite marketing strategy in recent memory is the one currently employed by Taco Bell. They go around the country asking people named Ronald McDonald what they think about Taco Bell’s new breakfast menu items. Obviously this makes another fast food chain upset, but these are real people in the ads! Well done Taco Bell, well done!

One Week Till The Big Game!

After an exciting weekend, we’re down to four teams in the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament. Kentucky is the real surprise in that bunch, pulling off a thrilling last second victory thanks to an Aaron Harrison three pointer against Michigan yesterday. They’ll play number two seed Wisconsin in Arlington Saturday. Many people including the President had picked Michigan State to win it all, but it was not meant to be! The Spartans fell to seven seed UConn on Saturday night. The last team to go dancing in Arlington is none other than this writer’s pick to win the championship, the Florida Gators! We’ll have to wait till this weekend to see how the final four plays out, and the championship game will be held a week from today in front of more than 70,000 rowdy fans!

After watching so much great basketball over the weekend I’m amped up to see March Madness resume Thursday night. With only sixteen teams left to vie for the title, things should be pretty serious in this round. The first of Thursday’s games pits two underdogs in Dayton and Stanford against one another. The double digit seed that triumphs will go on to play the winner of UCLA vs Florida in the Elite Eight. The Gators were my pick to win it all this year so I’ll be cheering loud for them to beat the Bruins Thursday night. The other two games of the night will be Baylor vs Wisconsin and San Diego State playing number one seed Arizona. Good luck to all the remaining teams involved.
